Gary Hedley

Gary has worked as an Insurance Claims Handler, Loss Adjuster and Manager for over thirty years. He also enjoyed a significant period working in the construction and pharmaceutical industries before returning to loss adjusting as a franchise business owner operator in 2012.

Gary started his career working for the CIS in Jesmond Newcastle Upon Tyne. He initially handled small domestic property losses before dealing with motor claims and eventually dealing with liability cases. He moved to Bury St Edmunds in 1987 as part of a new start up office opened by CIS, eventually becoming part of the management team before he moved to Zurich Insurance in 1992, working as a claims negotiator, on the road investigating motor and liability cases and negotiating settlements with solicitors.

Following redundancy in 1996, Gary Joined Mclarens Toplis Enfield branch as a liability adjuster (all classes), prior to taking over the Ipswich operation as Manager. A return to Zurich followed, working for Zurich Municipal out of their Southampton office, as Senior Claims Inspector for the South West of England, Managing a team of 10 Inspectors and high value casualty claims.

A career change beckoned and in 2004 Gary left the insurance industry, variously working as an electrical engineer, telephone engineer pharmaceutical parallel import manager and industrial and commercial gas engineer before returning to loss adjusting in 2013 as a franchise business owner operator.

Gary’s wide experience has equipped him with the ability to deal with diverse claims scenarios with confidence and depth of knowledge. Gary has achieved the status of DipCII following his return to the industry in 2012 and Gary has also achieved the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Practitioner Qualification issued by IBITGQ.

Gary provides consultancy services in relation to motor liability, employers and public liability, contractors liability and risk management to various clients and he is currently the main service provider interviewing and securing the statements of bus drivers and witnesses for a major UK public transport operator.
